Brett's 13th Birthday

I have a teenager!!!! Yikes.  How is that possible?
Brett requested Cheesecake so yesterday we tracked down the nearest Cheesecake Factory and bought him the most delicious cheesecake to bring home for his birthday.  While we were there we ate lunch.
Last night I opened the mail and saw that he was selected to go on the 7th grade Washington DC trip.  I wanted to save the letter for his birthday but Bryan and I were too excited for him.  He opened it before bed.
There was no school today.  We slept in a little and then we all ran down to open those presents!
Bryan was at work but left a note for his teenage son.
One hundred bucks for our favorite 13 year old.
A Minecraft book and Lego set from MiMi and Grandpa Jim.

Brylee made her brother a bracelet and wrapped up his old cast for him!
Grandma Sue and Grandpa sent money and Grandma made homemade cookies.  Yummy!
Next up some lego building.
We hit up the local bakery and the kids picked out donuts.

Bryan was able to sneak away from work so we met him for lunch at Taco Bell.
Time for a haircut because this kid would rather not brush his hair.

A quick stop to take out the money Grandpa Wayne sent.
Seriously I offered to take him anywhere he wanted.  The zoo, science museum, you name it.  But I guess when you become a teenager you like to be on your computer.
If you can't beat him...join him.
I bugged him more to pick something to do.  He agreed to take a raincheck for SkyZone once his cast is off.
Ihop for dinner.  Think mostly we ate today!
He could not think of anything he wanted to spend his birthday money on.
Except he did let me buy him some Silly Putty.
Happy Birthday Brett!
Brett you are compassionate, wise, brilliant, affectionate, generous and much more.
All I ever wanted was to be a mom.  You are my dream come true!
Happy 13th Birthday!

Brett my Teenager

 Dear Brett,
It seems
like just yesterday I brought you home.
You were a squishy baby....
with crazy hair!
I remember...
every picture.
Memories flood back.
Then you turned one on me.
I smile...
as I remember what you were doing and what you were like
in each and every picture.
I wish I could....
freeze time.
I must remember...
to savor...
every single...

moment with you.
Before I know it...

you will be...
graduating from high school.
It will...
happen in a...
blink of an eye.
So today...
I celebrate...
you, my teenage son!
You will never understand...
my love for you.  You are my world.
Thank you for making me a mom.
And last but not least a picture with my teenager.
Happy Birthday Brett!
You will be forever my baby.
